Commercial roller-shade planning

Wired Motorized Roller Shades

Wired roller-shade projects are not selected by fabric or motor name alone. Saiwenna reviews each opening with its fabric direction, tube and hardware, mounting and access, motor and power path, control interface, quantity and destination.

  • Window-schedule review
  • Wired power coordination
  • Model-specific control mapping

System starting point

Use wired power when the project needs a defined, repeatable path

Wired power is usually considered for repeated commercial openings, new construction, recessed pockets, grouped control or projects that need a defined interface to room or building controls. Battery systems may remain useful where wiring is unavailable, but access, charging, duty and maintenance still need to be planned.

Opening
Width, drop, quantity, room or zone and any unusual geometry.
Shade build
Fabric direction, tube, hardware, cassette, bottom bar and side condition.
Building interface
Mount, recess or pocket, substrate, cable route and service access.
Control scope
Exact motor, controller or gateway, commands, feedback and commissioning owner.

Specification logic

Build the system from each opening, not a generic maximum

Final width and drop depend on the selected fabric, tube, motor, mounting, edge condition and access. Wider or taller openings are reviewed as a complete configuration, so this page does not publish a universal size limit.

Repeated office bays

Keep opening IDs, facade zones, grouping and power routes aligned across the window schedule.

Recessed pockets

Coordinate pocket dimensions, bracket clearance, cable entry and service access before finishes close.

Room schedules

Preserve any differences in daylight direction, mounting, motor side and control by room or type.

Integrator projects

Define the motor-side interface and project-side control responsibility before quotation.

Fabric and daylight direction

Select material by the room objective

Choose light-filtering, sunscreen or room-darkening/blackout direction according to the space. Openness, composition, fire or other performance requirements are confirmed against the exact fabric series.

Room darkening depends on the selected fabric plus edge gaps, cassette, channels and installation conditions; the fabric label alone does not define the installed result.

Light filteringSoftens daylight where full room darkening is not required.
SunscreenOpenness and construction are reviewed with glare, daylight and view objectives.
Room darkeningFabric, edge treatment, hardware and installation condition are reviewed together.
Exact seriesComposition, color and requested performance evidence remain tied to the selected fabric.

Technical coordination table

Inputs to confirm before configuration and quotation

Use one row per opening or repeated type. Missing values remain open questions until the responsible project party confirms them.

Commercial wired roller-shade project inputs
Input group Information to provide Why it matters
Opening Window ID, width, drop, quantity, room or zone and unusual geometry Connects each configuration to a measurable opening and schedule line.
Material Light-filtering, sunscreen or blackout direction; color and sample need Frames the fabric series and the performance evidence to review.
Hardware Mount, cassette, bottom bar, side condition, pocket and access Defines the visible build, fixing condition and service path.
Power Voltage and frequency, motor side, cable route, panel responsibility and access Prevents a motor selection from being separated from the site power plan.
Control Remote or grouping need, dry contact, RS485 or named gateway/interface request Identifies the exact device path, commands, feedback and commissioning scope.
Supply Destination, labeling, packing, project or dealer use and Incoterm Keeps quotation, packing and logistics tied to the confirmed scope.

Power and control coordination

Map the complete path before naming compatibility

Identify voltage and frequency, motor location, cable route, panel responsibility and service access. Every control request remains tied to the selected motor, controller or gateway and the project-side interface.

Review Motor & Control Systems

RF or app directionFrequency, controller or gateway, account, region and supported functions are configuration-specific.
Dry contactAvailable commands, electrical requirements and feedback must be confirmed for the selected interface.
RS485Protocol, addressing, topology, command list and feedback behavior require exact model documentation.
KNX or BMSRequires a documented actuator or gateway path plus named wiring, programming and commissioning owners.
Lutron requestRequires exact system and component mapping; no product-wide compatibility is implied.
Service accessThe final power and control plan must preserve access to components that need inspection or replacement.

Window schedule to quotation

Keep every confirmed field attached to its opening

A structured schedule preserves room or window ID, dimensions, quantity, mount, fabric direction, motor, voltage, control, power, drawing reference and notes. Unconfirmed fields stay open rather than being guessed.

  1. IdentifyAssign each opening or repeated type a stable room, facade or window ID.
  2. MeasureProvide width, drop, quantity and any pocket, side or access constraints.
  3. DefineState the fabric objective, hardware direction, motor side and power availability.
  4. MapName the requested control path, commands, feedback and project-side owner.
  5. CompleteAdd destination, labeling, packing, timing and applicable quotation terms.

Review and supply handoff

Move from project inputs to an approved scope

  1. 01Share scheduleOpenings, fabric direction, mounting, power, control and destination.
  2. 02Review gapsKeep unresolved dimensions, interfaces and responsibilities visible.
  3. 03Confirm sample taskDefine what material, hardware or control behavior the sample must evaluate.
  4. 04Approve scopeAlign the selected configuration and order documents before production.
  5. 05Plan supplyApply scope-defined QC, labels, packing and spare-parts decisions.

No universal test result, spare ratio or packing method is implied; those items follow the approved configuration and order scope.

FAQ

Questions that finalize a wired roller-shade brief

Can one project combine wired and battery shades?

Yes, if every opening remains tied to its power, service and control requirements. The schedule should preserve those differences.

Does RS485 mean the shade works with every BMS?

No. The exact protocol, commands, feedback, addressing, controller or gateway and commissioning owner must be confirmed.

Can the maximum size be confirmed online?

Not safely as a universal value. Fabric, tube, motor, mounting, edge condition and access must be reviewed together for the opening.

What should be sent first?

Send a window schedule or drawing, quantity, fabric and daylight goal, mounting condition, power and control request, and destination.

Ready to Review a Commercial Roller-Shade Schedule?

Send the opening schedule or drawing, quantity, fabric direction, mounting condition, wired-power plan, control request and destination. Final configuration and quotation depend on the confirmed project inputs.
