Controls for dealers and integrators

Motorized Blinds Control Systems for Smart Homes and Commercial Projects

Compare RF, Tuya Wi-Fi, Zigbee, RS485, dry contact and KNX project integration before selecting a motor. Saiwenna helps dealers, contractors and integrators match the control path to the wiring, gateway and commissioning plan.

Start with the project architecture

The correct control choice is not a label added after the blind is ordered. It affects the motor, cabling, addressing, gateway, wall controls, grouping and commissioning responsibility. Confirm who supplies the automation controller and who programs the final scenes before quotation.

Compatibility boundary: Available control methods depend on the selected motor, project wiring, gateway and third-party control platform. Final compatibility must be confirmed before ordering.

Control method comparison

Control method Best suited for Gateway Wiring Group control / feedback Before quotation
RF remote Simple rooms, retrofit and dealer packages Usually not for basic local control Power to motor; project wiring varies Grouping may be available; do not assume status feedback Channels, groups, motor position and wall-control needs
Tuya Wi-Fi App-led residential and light commercial projects Depends on selected device and architecture Power and reliable network planning Scenes and schedules depend on the configured platform Region, app, network, account and voice-platform expectations
Zigbee Structured smart-home projects with a compatible hub Normally required Power plus planned Zigbee coverage Grouping and feedback depend on hub, device and integration Hub model, coordinator, device count and commissioning owner
RS485 Hotels, villas and commercial wired automation Controller or gateway may be required Power plus communication bus Addressing and feedback depend on motor protocol Protocol document, topology, addresses and command/feedback list
Dry contact Relay panels, key switches and simple BMS triggers Often no protocol gateway, but relays/interfaces are project-side Power plus isolated control inputs Direct open/close/stop; feedback is not automatic Contact logic, pulse/maintained input and feedback requirement
KNX integration KNX villas, hotels and commercial buildings Usually via a KNX actuator or gateway selected by the integrator Motor/control wiring plus KNX-side design Depends on actuator, gateway and motor interface KNX topology, datapoints, gateway owner and commissioning plan

Typical project paths

Hotel rooms

Define room controller, key-card logic, local wall controls, master scenes, emergency behavior and whether the BMS needs position feedback.

Villas and smart homes

Confirm app or automation platform, room grouping, voice-control expectations, network architecture and who commissions scenes.

Commercial and BMS

Document motor interface, bus or relay panel, command set, feedback requirements, zoning, test procedure and handover responsibility.

Information we need

Blind and motor

  • Blind or curtain-track type, dimensions and quantity
  • Voltage, motor position and available power
  • Single units, groups and room or facade zones
  • Local remote or wall-switch requirements

Integration

  • Target platform, gateway or controller model
  • RS485, dry-contact, Zigbee or KNX interface
  • Commands and feedback required
  • Wiring drawing, commissioning owner and test plan

Control system FAQ

Can Saiwenna motorized blinds integrate with KNX?

They can be planned for KNX projects through a suitable motor interface, actuator or gateway. The integrator must confirm the KNX-side hardware, datapoints and programming before the order is finalized.

What is the difference between RS485 and dry contact?

RS485 is a serial communication path that may support addressed commands and feedback according to the motor protocol. Dry contact sends simple relay inputs such as open, close or stop. Exact functions depend on the selected motor and controller.

Who supplies the gateway?

The quotation must state this clearly. In many projects the smart-home or BMS integrator selects and programs the third-party gateway, while Saiwenna confirms the motor-side interface.

Confirm the interface before ordering

Send the blind schedule, wiring concept, controller or gateway details and required commands. We will review the motor-side options and identify items that need project-team confirmation.
